We dynamically offer the best web-page your browser can handle,
so in the interest of best presentation, you should aim for a
browser that can display MathML. In general, Firefox and
its derivatives (Camino, SeaMonkey, Minimo, Epiphany, ...) provide
the best viewing experience and we discuss below only the main
families.
Our journal pages are manufactured to the highest web standards
available today are also available in a variety os specialty browsers
like the microbrowsers
Minimo,
Opera Mobile and
PocketIE; device based browsers
like
WebTV
and
Opera for devices;
text based browsers like
Lynx,
specialty browsers like
MozBraille and naturally
the W3C browser
Amaya. Of course your mileage
may vary depending on the browser, device and standards supported by
both. For more information check the comparison table below.
Anti-aliasing
First, no matter what system you use, have the anti-aliasing turned
on and well tuned.
Microsoft provides access to the technology of
sub-pixel rendering only if you use an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)
such as a laptop, PocketPC or a flat display panel, and calls the
technology "ClearType". A tuning tool can either be run online
using Internet Explorer (only) here
or downloading the PowerToy tuner
here.
Follow the wizard that will be installed in the Control Panel and choose
the best settings for your monitor. Upon changing a monitor the
tuning wizard should be re-run.
On Mac OS X the technology is called "Font Smoothing" and accessible
via "System Preferences" and then "Appearance", which will give you
five choices for CRT's and flat display panels. The threshold for
the size of the fonts to apply smoothing should be set to low.
On RedHat Linux, go to the "System" menu then "Preferences" then
"Fonts" and choose the best settings for "Font Rendering".
MathML Font Set
Next download and install the MathML font set from
here,
then test it on this
initial page.
